The BVI Wet-Field® Eraser is a sterile, single-use bipolar hemostatic eraser used for precise coagulation during ophthalmic surgery. This configuration is 18 gauge with a bevelled tip on a straight shaft (BVI code 221250).
What it's used for
Wet-Field® Erasers deliver targeted, discrete coagulation with minimal tissue trauma and minimal peripheral cellular necrosis. Applications include vitreoretinal procedures, glaucoma filtration surgery and cataract incisions.
18G is the largest gauge in the Eraser range. Surgeons generally reach for it where episcleral or intrascleral coagulation over a broader area is needed rather than the pinpoint work suited to the finer 23G and 25G tips. The bevelled tip presents a flat face to the tissue.
Design
Contoured shafts are designed to conform to ocular anatomy while maximising tip visualisation, range of motion and target approach versatility. Supplied sterile, single use only.
Where it sits in the range
BVI manufactures bipolar pencils from 18G through to 25G, in straight and angled shafts, with bevelled, blunt, fine and tapered tip options. The straight range covers 18G, 20G, 20-23G tapered, 23G and 25G. Erasers are used with a compatible bipolar cable and coagulator.
Supplied in boxes of 10.
