Visiswab is a sterile, single-use double-ended cotton swab made specifically for ophthalmic surgery. Each swab has two working ends, which lets it serve as both an absorbent and a manipulator without a second instrument on the tray.
What it's used for
The rounded end is made for scleral depression. The pointed end can be used as a second instrument to move sutures, manipulate tissue, or absorb blood and fluid. Used across cataract, cornea, glaucoma, oculoplastic and retinal procedures.
Design
The ends are tightly wound so the swab produces less linting than general-purpose cotton swabs, which matters when fibres near the ocular surface or an open wound are unacceptable. Overall length is 8.1 cm.
Packaging
Ten swabs per sterile pouch, 25 pouches per box, giving 250 swabs per box. Pouch packaging keeps the remaining swabs sterile once a theatre list is underway rather than committing the whole box to one case.
