The BVI Visitec Universal Eye Shield is a sterile, single-use clear plastic eye shield used to protect the eye after ophthalmic surgery or trauma. One shield fits either the left or the right eye, so there is no need to stock separate handed versions.
What it's used for
Post-operative and post-trauma eye protection. The shield sits over the orbit to guard against accidental contact and rubbing while the eye recovers, and is commonly issued to day surgery patients on discharge after cataract, vitreoretinal and oculoplastic procedures.
Design
Clear lightweight plastic, so the clinician can inspect the eye without removing the shield. Smooth edges mean no protective cover is required. Ventilation holes reduce heat and moisture build-up for patient comfort. Nominal size 7.5 cm x 6.5 cm.
Sterility and use
Supplied sterile and intended for single use. Do not re-sterilise.
Supplied in boxes of 50.
