BEXSERO is a vaccine approved for 10- through 25-year-olds to prevent meningococcal group B disease (also known as meningitis B) caused by Neisseria meningitidis bacteria.

These bacteria can cause serious, and sometimes life-threatening, infections such as meningitis (inflammation of the covering of the brain and spinal cord) and sepsis (blood poisoning).

BEXSERO is a 2-dose vaccine series given in the muscle of the upper arm. The second dose should be given at least one month after the first dose.

MenB-MC — recombinant multicomponent meningococcal serogroup B vaccine

Each 0.5 mL monodose pre-filled syringe contains:

  • 50 µg Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B Neisseria heparin binding antigen fusion protein
  •  
  • 50 µg Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B Neisseria adhesion A protein
  •  
  • 50 µg Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B factor H binding protein fusion protein
  •  
  • 25 µg outer membrane vesicles from Neisseria meningitidis serogroup B strain NZ98/254 (measured as amount of total protein containing the PorA P1.4)
  •  

Adsorbed onto 0.5 mg aluminium hydroxide.
